This week I am thankful for all the strong Catholic nuns who have been a part of my life.They are the big reason for me being, and remaining, Catholic despite the institutional church's stance that women are "less than" men. In their own quiet -- and sometimes not so quiet -- ways they lead us the way Christ led.
Specifically I thank my aunt, Sr. Diana Miller, an Adrian Dominican, and Sr. Joan Mikulski (pictured here) of the Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart, who I was fortunate to be able to work with and from whom I learned SO MUCH. Today is her birthday --- HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SR. JOAN ---- May God's blessings rain down upon you!
