Friday Fun

Time to enjoy a little laughter with my favorite laughing baby. If you don't laugh while listening to this little one, there might be something wrong!

The bears love our little neighborhood...

.....although she doesn't look awake right here! This photo was from the tv news account. Dear Husband was on the news but it was so quick that before I realized it was him and could take a picture, he was gone :-(

Here's the warning sign the Division of Wildlife put up near our tennis courts yesterday:

And here are some of my photos of the mama and her baby (I won't call it her "little one.") It's truly amazing how they can sleep so peacefully --- high up on a tree limb. Oh, those are rubber bullets on the rifle carried by the DoW lady.

And here's where you can find the newspaper account: Daily Camera

Lots of sewing at the Creative Lab

Lots of sewing happening at the Creative Lab. A birthday party for a newly-turned 16 yr old who invited several friends to make pajama pants, and the little gals finished their chemises. Hopefully the older girls will want to come back and sew some more at the Independent Project Workshops or maybe take a class or two. And the little gals have already cut out the pieces for their gumdrop pillows.

My Opal -- Alice, this is for you

I am posting this photo for my blog-friend, Alice. I know I said it was maybe white, but I was thinking "clear" and looking at this photo, perhaps it would be considered "Blue?" It has SO many different colors in it - blue, pink, orange, teal, red.... and this photo doesn't even do it credit. It is backed with black onyx and set in gold. I really do love it.

New pillowcases

I found what looked like a really nice pillow case pattern here. Bought some fabric on Thursday, and made the cases yesterday. The pattern directions turned out to be quite easy to follow and it didn't take long at all to make the cases.

These are very springy. And I love the trim.
And what is nicer than a new pair of pillow cases?
Two new pair!

This set is for Dear Husband's Hawaiian dreams......

Friday Funny

One of my favorite TV characters of all time is, I must say, Ed Grimley. I love this old SNL segment:

Penguins are NOT bird-brained!

A friend sent me this video and it's definitely worth sharing:

How cute -- and smart -- is that little penguin!

Remodel update

More progress on our room:
The new closet doors are mirrored.
I love the built-in shelves!

Sewing at Common Threads

The little gals at Common Threads have each been making a chemise for themselves. What fun! It's such a basic pattern that they have been able to use their creativity and make the chemise truly their own.

This little gal added a ruffle to the bottom of hers.
This one decided to split the pieces in half and use two different fabrics.
They're very careful while sewing. Sometimes we use a sticky note to show them where to line up their fabric.
And these two finished theirs yesterday! One made hers the length of a dress and the other has more of a tunic. They can hardly wait until the weather warms up although they didn't mind wearing them over their other clothing.
Aren't they just wonderful!!

Make-It Monday

Bella has been busy lately in her playroom, making cards, ATCs, and a travel journal. But first up: some lovely ATCs that family members have sent to me. They are from a daughter, an aunt, and a sister-in-law. So different, and all so wonderful! {You, too, can join in the ATC exchange if you'd like!}

Next up, some cards:

Now, some of my own ATCs:
This travel journal has been sent to a sister-in-law for a fundraiser:

And finally, a funny card to my sister who sent me a box of Trader Joe shopping bags. They have the coolest designs on them and I love to play with them:

Any favorites? Suggestions? I LOVE FEEDBACK!

A walk downtown

We had a lovely walk around downtown today. So many flowers blooming but it almost feels like it could snow tonight. Picked up a couple books: Mountains Beyond Mountains, by Tracy Kidder, and The Spiritual Dimension of the Enneagram, by Sandra Maitri. Had lunch at the Rio and then for dessert --- Powell's Candy Store for a Chunky Bar. Mmmmm.....

Scenes from a remodel

We are in the process of having one of the bedrooms, formerly occupied by a daughter, remodeled. I'm not fond of the process at all, having people in our house doing all of the work. On the other hand, it would take us forever to do it ourselves, so....... The man working right now is the same man who worked on our last project, so that's nice. But still, someone is in our house! (I think that's my "fiveness" rearing it's ugly head.)
Here are a few of the pics I've snapped so far. Can hardly wait until it's finished :-)
