While I was out walking the other day, in a bit of a snowfall, I saw this large deer. He's camouflaged quite well so you will probably have to click on the photo to see him. He's just to the left of the No Camping sign. Seems the camping police haven't found him yet!

ATCs and an altered CD

My favorite ATC is in the lower right corner, although it's hard to see the little stamped birdcage with this photo.... That one definitely speaks to my heart.

Horizontal icicles

Some of the icicles hanging from our eaves broke off and then froze on the bushes. When I first saw them I though they were horizontal icicles! Don't they look neat?! (click on photo to enlarge it)

Getting there...

Seven quilt squares down, five more to go. And then the outside strips, etc. But I'm sure making progress!

It has been snowing since Friday. But just lightly. I shoveled about six inches this morning, wearing my big boots, so that later I could wear my pink crocs.... and my spa robe.......

And look what I found for $5.00 at the Humane Society Thrift Store today:

A very colorful cotton Oilily sweater. Nice............ I might deconstruct it. Not sure though.

Quilting, quilting....

Wow! I finished one of my quilt squares today. I think I'm going to like this.

Of course, there are still eleven more squares to put together with all of these little pieces....

.... and I have another project started..... This will be an apron for someone who keeps ruining her clothing when she cooks!

OH, and look what I found on my doorstep today when I went out to get the mail:

Can hardly wait to look through it and find my next project. Well, after the quilt is done. And after the apron is finished ........... So much to sew, and so little time...... And then there are cards to make, ATCs, paintings, and shouldn't I be playing my piano??

New project

I was inspired by three young ladies to begin a new sewing project. This one involves some of this fabric stash

this Sukey's Choice pattern in an old magazine

and my favorite machine

This is what I have so far

Stay tuned for updates in this project!

And here are little pincushions I made for my three sewing gals

What projects are you undertaking?

I smile when I think of my mom....

You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back,or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see her,or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her only that she is gone,or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back.

Or you can do what she'd want:smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Friday Funny

This sign has intrigued me, every time I drive by it. Finally, I stopped the car, got out, and took a picture. Sadly, the store was closed so I was not able to see all the bibles...... and ......wigs?

Make-it Monday

Lately I have been trying to consolidate all of my sewing/crafts/art stuff into one room. While going through bins of fabric, threads, patterns, I came across some unfinished pieces and I had an "aha" moment! I had recently helped my young folks at Common Threads make some new pillow covers. I could use the paper-pieced quilt squares to make covers for the pillows I had recently uncovered. First, I had to finally finish the paper-piecing. I brought it along when I went to Thursday sewing at Common Threads. Then, on to the pillow cover.

Here is one of the pillows:

I think it had been thrown into the washing machine at some point and the stuffing was hard as a rock. The old orange cover had probably shrunk and made the stuffing compress. So I decided to open it up and remove the stuffing, pull it apart, and fluff it up some. I then had this mess:

I stuffed a lot, but not all, of the old stuffing back into the old pillow, sewed it back up, and put the new cover on it:

My new pillow looks a whole lot nicer than the old one. I picked up this Honu pattern on one of our Hawaiian trips. I loved swimming with the Honu so this makes me smile when I look at it. Next up, a Nene pillow!
