Easter Vigil

One of the highlights of the liturgical year for me is the Easter Vigil, held on Saturday night. At our previous - and much beloved - parish, the mass and all of it's accompanying ceremonies could last up to 3 hours. We heard the whole story from creation to resurrection, welcomed new Catholics, and afterwards celebrated with a potluck. Our liturgist put it all together, with help from a multitude of parishioners and it was indeed a beautiful experience.

This year, as in the past two years, we celebrated the vigil up in a little mountain town nearby -- a parish that doesn't even have a church but borrows the Methodist church for mass. We packed the little church this year, full to over-flowing, and it felt like community again. But there are some songs that I miss from our previous parish. Here is one of them:

I will not listen to it for fear of how long it will last in my head.
