Pix from the weekend

We had an interesting weekend, weather-wise. Friday was lovely, and I walked downtown to pick up my race t-shirt and number, only to find out that they were not available yet. I stopped by the library for a few books, walked about half-way home and decided to hop on the bus as my bag was so heavy.
I love this bus because it's FREE! When I got off at my stop, a little neighbor boy greeted me with outstretched arms and we walked hand in hand to his front door. Isn't he cute?
He loves my camera...

Friday evening DH and I decided to go listen to the music at the cafe.
The Smuggler Mountain Boys were great. Loved the toe-tapping music, as did quite a number of other folks.

And check this out:

Saturday morning brought cooler weather. A storm blew in before noon, breaking limbs and lowering the temps about 20 degrees. Then the rain came. But that didn't stop the river surfers and kayakers.

This morning temps were in the low 40s, and there was quite a bit of new snow on the peaks. The sun would come out for awhile, then it would cloud up again...... and this went on most of the day.

Right before we arrived at the Monastery for mass, we saw a rainbow.

We had brunch at our new favorite place:

Good food ...... and a scruptious dessert!

How was your weekend?

Friday Fun

Saw this sign and laughed out loud.
I love it.

I can run now!

Today I finished the C25K Get Running program! I can comfortably run 30 minutes now and I ran my fastest mile ever today: 10'05". I know, I know..... that's NOT fast, but heh, that's what happens when you begin running in your late 50s. That C25K program really works. When I began it nine weeks ago I doubted that I would complete it; 30 minutes of running? Without stopping? I could barely run a minute at that point. I'm all set now to run, not walk, the Strawberry Shortcut 5K on Father's Day. Meet you at the finish line for the strawberry shortcake!

Book dilemma

So, I finished this book. Fun read, but ***WARNING*** -- don't read it in the library, or church, or any other place you need to be quiet because it is laugh-out-loud funny!

I'm also currently reading this book:

also an excellent read, both serious and funny in parts. Fr. James is definitely a priest I wish we had around these parts..... And since DH was Jesuit educated, maybe I'll understand him better after reading this book? :-)

Now for the dilemma: I've got to have at least two books going at a time, so what should I read along with The Jesuit Guide? Here's one of my book stacks:

What do you think? Any other suggestions?

Finally.....

....time to get caught up. We had another full weekend up here in the Roaring Fork Valley. Went up valley on Saturday and spent some time in Aspen, hoping it would be a little cooler up there. But no, not much. Oh well. Had a nice lunch though, bought a couple books, (here's DH saying hi to our friend, Monica, who introduced us to this wonderful store several years ago!)

and did some general people-watching.

I swear this policeman was in exactly the same spot the last time we visited!

On Sunday we went up to the Monastery in Snowmass. It is unbelievably peaceful up there. Here are some pix from Snowmass:

that's the Monastery snuggled way back in there....

We had breakfast at Cafe Bernard. Quite lovely and not nearly so chaotic as our usual place! Must remember this spot when Fr. Terry gets up here. We think he'll love it.

Friday Fun

And they didn't do the math right either. I believe you'll save almost negative ten dollars.
