Finally got down to my art room and made a few cards and ATCs. These are the birthday cards for Dear Husband and Middle Daughter. BUT --- I forgot to take pictures of the ATCs before I sent/gave them all away. So, if you received an "Autumn" ATC, could you PLEASE send me a picture of it. :-)
I still get a laugh when I think about this little town we visited on our Great Adventure this past summer. Yes, there really is a George, Washington! We saw it for ourselves, but we couldn't find a restaurant so our stay was brief. Actually, just long enough to snap this picture on their "City Hall." Here's some information on the tiny town.
Dear Husband and I decided to go for a hike on Sunday as the day was sunny and on the cooler side, perfect for heading out to the Marshall Mesa trail. And we knew the snow was on its way. Not too many other hikers but there were a lot of bicyclists. Some warned us they were coming up on us, others didn't. Rather startling when a fast moving cycle comes up on you. Folks, a little heads up, "on your left," or a cute little bell would help. I digress......
The path lay ahead of us.
The reservoir, although not available to the public, was quite pretty.
Dear Husband pointed out his fir tree.....
... but I pointed out that this looked more like a fur tree.
All of a sudden we were covered by black clouds so thought it best to get down from the trail.
Got down before any rain and had lunch in the park.
Definitely a good day for a hike. The snow came in overnight!
great: unusually or comparatively large in size or dimension
adventure: an exciting or very unusual experience
Our "Great Adventure" lived up to its name. We travelled over 3,600 miles in 23 days. We visited with family and friends, met interesting folks, saw incredible sites, experienced new places, and returned home with a renewed appreciation for our beautiful country and the wide variety of folks living therein! How lucky we are!
We stayed a few days in beautiful Glenwood Springs, soaking in the hot springs. Dear Husband did some swimming while I finished up a novel.
On the final drive home we caught sight of snow on the higher peaks. Yes, fall is coming.
But look who was anxiously waiting for our return:
... our friends, MaryFrances and Mike, got us hooked on Tillamook Mudslide Ice Cream while we were with them at Flathead Lake. We enjoyed it when we got to Oregon as well. Oh ............ my ....... goodness! It's probably a good thing that it's not sold in Colorado.
During the early part of our Great Adventure this summer, we were invited to spend a few days at the summer home of our friends, MaryFrances and Mike AT Flathead Lake, Montana. (not "IN Flathead Lake", as MaryFrances so wisely pointed out to me!)
They have a gorgeous home... on the shore of beautiful Flathead Lake...
...enjoyed by both the wildlife...
...and the s'mores-making crew....
MaryFrances took us cherry-picking....
for the sweetest, largest cherries we'd ever seen....
We had such a great time. Big, big thanks to MaryFrances and Mike for sharing their home with us. We look forward to a return trip some day!
